The piece ‘Three Dialogues’ was written with the intent of a monologue disguised as a dialogue to another. When this piece began, I assembled three poems separated by the time they were written, and related to each other only by their intention. Each movement can be performed individually, but for the intended effect and meaning of the piece to be felt, the piece in its entirety should be performed as written. It is my intention to convey a dialogue covering love, introspection, and the value of self expression, and I encourage all to make their own interpretation of the work as I view all interpretations to be correct.
Stay. Please, Stay.
Footsteps in the dark,
Nothing seen is everything.
I am the sum of my parts.
Should I lose one, I am fleeting.
I am the tree, the leaf, the bug.
Think of me when you walk.
Think of me as you step on that leaf.
Think of me while you
Rest upon that tree.
See through their eyes,
For there was never a more
Beautiful yet horrifying view
Than that of everything in-between.
When day breaks you wake,
For you and I never knew anything more
Than blue skies and white lies,
Yet countless others knew nothing at all.
Now, walk through fertile fields with me.
Let us share what they may never know.
Run through this field,
In search of obvious purpose,
And bask in the golden ocean
Gilded with specks of
Restlessness and beauty.
Melt away in this field.
Let us be consumed by loving embrace.
Forget all sullen ashen hopes and
Hold me tightly in your arms.
Squeeze me as if I were only
Seconds from having
Never existed at all.
Let our thoughts and our hearts
Run free in this field.
This passion assuaged us of
Hatred from laughing eyes.
Those eyes saw nothing of this love,
Our love, forever, and forevermore.
